Launch Control
Launch Control operates using an electronic accelerator and a computer program. The software controls acceleration according to engine characteristics to ensure the vehicle accelerates smoothly and as quickly as possible, preventing drive wheel spin, engine failure due to over-revving, and clutch and gearbox problems. On racing cars, this feature is only available at the start of the race when the car is stationary. The software is disabled after the vehicle operates at a certain speed.
Intended use: Racing drivers have only a short time at the start of a race to achieve competitive acceleration. The high power transfer to the transmission and drive wheels cannot be easily managed by even the most skilled drivers.
